Driving Range Notice

Please be advised that The Harvest Golf Club will be utilizing mats only on the driving range from Wednesday, July 30th through Sunday, August 10th inclusively.  With excessive amounts of usage that our practice facility has experienced since opening, this will allow the driving range to recuperate and hopefully provide good hitting conditions as of August 11th.   Also note that this exercise will be repeated at the completion of the Club Championship or around Monday, August 25th.

We’d like to thank you very much for your understanding as this process is done annually and is necessary for our maintenance crew to be able to perform procedures that will allow the turf to recover.

Golf Course Irrigation Advisory

The heat we have experienced over this last week is one we haven’t experienced in many years.  With temperatures swirling around 40°C this past week, the work of our golf course maintenance crew is that much more challenging.  With the emerald green coloring we've experienced thus far this season combined with golfers expectations constantly on the rise, it is an inerrant challenge to keep the same course visual presentation during these extreme climactic conditions.  As long as these excessive temperatures continue, we are anticipating utilizing upward of 1 million gallons daily, both from our automated irrigation system and manually watering isolated areas in the daytime.

TaylorMade Opens New Performance Centres in Western Canada

TaylorMade Canada announced the opening of Canada’s TaylorMade Performance Centres (TMPC), which serves as TaylorMade Canada’s home base for custom fitting across Western Canada.

Under the skilled eye of TaylorMade Master Fitters Kris Farley, Mike Langin and Andy Johnson, golfers of all abilities will now have access to test and be fit for the entire line-up of TaylorMade’s vast range of custom and stock options. Set up in a weather sheltered environment, each TaylorMade Performance Centre features TaylorMade proprietary fitting software on FlightScope’s X2 Launch Monitor to analyze ball-flight and club-dynamics.
“We can dial in any club in the bag, from drivers and fairways to rescues, irons, wedges, the putter and golf ball,” explained Andy Johnson, a native of Australia, and past player on the PGA Tour Canada and Australasian Tours who has overseen TMPC operations in Vancouver for the past year. “Providing the player with data such as spin rates, launch angles, swing speed, ball speed, we are able to illustrate the ideal set-up for a player’s bag and recommend the best fit for a player’s game. At the end of the fitting process, clients will be provided with customized specifications from which they can place an order for their new set and a point of contact to follow up with any fitting related inquiries.”
“TaylorMade Performance Centres slot into the upper echelon of our Tuned Performance franchise, and help consumers to access our staff of Master Fitters in a way that is convenient for the golfer,” said Cameron Jacobs, Manager, Custom Fitting for TaylorMade Canada. “One of the challenges we’ve seen in Canada is that players can’t always attend a demo or fitting day at their club, nor can our reps transport the full-line of custom options from event to event. Setting up shop at a fixed TMPC location and offering high-level fitting to all golfers is not a fad, it’s the way we see the business evolving to suit the needs of today’s consumer. We couldn’t ask for better venues in Calgary, Vernon, Kelowna and Vancouver – they’ve been phenomenal hosts – this is our stake in the ground for Western Canada.”
The TaylorMade Performance Centre serves as a hub for pro-shops and golf retailers from all corners of Alberta, British Columbia and beyond. Appointments for fitting sessions at the TaylorMade Performance Center may be booked by PGA of Canada Professionals, TaylorMade Authorized retailers on behalf of their clients, or golfers may book directly with TaylorMade at each location. Upon completion of a fitting session, the Master Fitter will be able to assist consumers in placing an order and ensuring quick delivery for any custom product built at the head office in Carlsbad, California.

The Harvest Golf Club Celebrates its 20th Anniversary!

Today marks a milestone for The Harvest Golf Club, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.  It was April 16th, 1994 at 1:00pm, when our owner, Mr. Masayoshi Ohkubo, hit the first ceremonial shot off the first tee, officially inaugurating the golf course for play.  Early in 1991, Mr. Ohkubo

Harvest #1 Most Talked About Golf Course by Canadian Tourism Commission

With elk, caribou and even bears for company plus fresh apples and mussels to eat, travellers can enjoy an unforgettable 18 holes.
19 February 2014

Canada boasts some gorgeous golf courses. In fact, the scenery may be so distracting you’ll have trouble focusing on that little white ball. Here are 10 of our most talked about courses.
1) If ever there was a golfing Garden of Eden, it must be The Harvest Golf Club overlooking Kelowna’s Okanagan Lake. Scattered along the impeccably manicured fairways are dozens of mature fruit trees. Pick an apple—it’s not forbidden fruit here—and munch while you play.

Wining, dining and golfing in Kelowna

4804345.bin“Keep your eye on the ball and swing easy.”

Those were my husband’s parting words as I headed to Kelowna in early April to squeeze in a couple more days of skiing, followed by a day of golfing.

The skiing part was easy; Big White is just an hour and 15 minutes from the airport and I didn’t need any help getting down the mountain. But golfing? That was a different story.

Fore Day Flight

Planning a golf trip to the Okanagan? Read this great article of a recent 4-day golf and wine tasting adventure in the Okanagan!

Fore Day Flight

by Jason Kerkmans – TheAPosition

Aside from those living in the Pac NW, flying into the town of Kelowna, in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, may take the better part of a day after a likely layover in Seattle or Portland. However, once you arrive at the far north end of the Sonoran Desert and the home of icewine and Canadian golf, it’s a quick transition into a four-day itinerary that will leave you awash in a sea of reds, whites …

The Masters: In the Zone

The Masters: In the Zone

by Terry Moore – TheAPosition

A few years ago when I arrived at the Masters, the first place I visited was the new patron sitting area on the hillside overlooking the par-three 16th hole. For some reason, I’m always curious to discover and assess the many tournament and course improvements made over the past year. Many of them are never announced or commented upon by the club. After some storm-damaged trees were removed (at least that was the official Augusta …
